With the pandemic still looming, many of us have a lot of extra time on our hands that can be used to do all of the jobs we’ve been putting off for years. If you’re anything like us, your garage is an organized disaster that you have wanted to organize for some time. In today’s blog, we’re going to share 5 tips that will help you organize your garage and make the most of your space!

  • Use the Marie Kondo Method

In case you missed the Marie Kondo craze, her biggest takeaway is that you should only keep things that ‘Spark Joy.’ A lot of junk can accumulate in your garage that you no longer need. Start tackling your space by dividing the room into sections. In each section, touch every item that occupies that space. While touching the item, if you feel a ‘spark of joy,’ you can keep it. If you feel nothing and haven’t used the item in a long time, you should part ways with it so someone else can enjoy it.

  • Place Items by Frequency of Use

You want to use clear bins so you can see the items in each container. You want to organize the items/containers by frequency of use (I.e. things you don’t use often should go to the back/high up, and stuff you use frequently should be easy to access.)

  • Utilize Your Space Better & Get Things Off the Floor

The biggest tip to organizing your garage is to get things off the floor. You want to use shelves, cabinets, and pegboards to maximize your space. Getting things off the floor will also open up the space and make it feel less crowded. Pegboards are a great addition to your garage because you can hang things off it with hooks/clamps/bins/etc. All of the small things you need access too like tools, keys, helmets/etc., can be organized on a pegboard for quick and easy access!

  • Use the Ceilings

For things you don’t use often, you can hang on the ceiling to make more space. Things like bikes, scooters, kayaks, etc. are all things that can be hung on the ceiling, so you have more space to move around.
